Easy to Make Frikadeller (Delicious Danish Meatballs)
Today’s recipe is on frikadeller. This danish dish is easy to make and a delicious as a snack or an appetizer for a party. I think this is one of the best Danish dishes to learn. We’ve given the Italians a run for their money.
Frikadeller Ingredients:
- 1 kilo (2.2lbs) regular ground pork
- 2 eggs
- 1 medium onion
- 14 gr. (1 tbsp) salt
- 14 gr. (1 tbsp) pepper
- 110gr. (4 oz) oatmeal
- 250 ml (8.5 oz) 1% milk
- 56 ml (2 oz) avocado oil
- 28 ml (1 oz) salted butter
Frikadeller Cooking Instructions
- Sautee diced onion. Set aside to cool
- Mix all ingredients except butter and avocado oil. I prefer to use two forks so that I don’t overwork mixture. (see video!)
- Form meat into desired shape. I use the two spoon method to make Quenelles. Others like to just make a patty with their hands. Set aside and refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes.
- Set stove top to medium high heat. Add oil and butter to the pan. Wait until it has stopped sizzling and add meatballs. If you are doing the patty method, simply flip when one side is browned. If you are doing the 3 sided method, cook each side for 4 minutes, or until dark brown.
